Baptist Medical Group Adds Internist

LEXINGTON Spencer Jones, DO, has joined Baptist Health Medical Group Internal Medicine at 2101 Nicholasville Road, Suite 208, in Lexington. Jones earned a doctorate in osteopathic medicine from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Virginia. He completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Kentucky and a fellowship in sports medicine at TriHealth Orthopedics & Sports Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He is board certified in family medicine and is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Association of Family Physicians and the American College of Sports Medicine.

 

 

Baptist Health Lexington Named Healthgrades 2018 Outstanding Patient Experience Award Winner

LEXINGTON Baptist Health Lexington received the Healthgrades 2018 Outstanding Patient Experience Award. Healthgrades is the leading online resource for information about physicians and hospitals. Patient experience measures how patients felt about the care they received at the hospital and if they would recommend the hospital. Healthgrades bestowed the 2018 Outstanding Patient Experience Award honor on 439 hospitals throughout the United States, representing the top 15 percent of hospitals in the nation for patient experience.

As part of the analysis, Healthgrades evaluated 3,478 hospitals that submitted at least 100 patient experience surveys to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), covering admissions from April 2016 to March 2017, to identify hospital performance in this area.

Kristi Farmer-Lykins Honored by Kentucky Hospital Association

LOUISVILLE The Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA) presented several awards during the Association’s Awards Luncheon on May 11 at the 89th Annual KHA Convention in Lexington. KHA’s Health Care Governance Leadership Award, which recognizes individuals who have had a positive and sustainable impact on the quality of care in their community, was presented to Kristi Farmer-Lykins of Lexington, hospital board member of Baptist Health Lexington.

Kristi Farmer-Lykins has been a member of the Baptist Health Lexington Administrative Board since 2003. She was asked to be a member of the board because of her deep personal commitment to service within the community and references from many individuals who knew her and her kind, giving spirit. For nearly 15 years, Farmer-Lykins has served the hospital faithfully, providing leadership and support while demonstrating her ambassadorial role on behalf of the hospital within the community.

Our Lady of Peace Honored by the Kentucky Hospital Association


Facility recognized for outstanding work with 2018 Quality Award

LEXINGTON Our Lady of Peace, part of KentuckyOne Health, received top honors from the Kentucky Hospital Association (KHA), demonstrating dedication to patient safety and care. On May 11, select hospitals were recognized with KHA Quality Awards at the 89th Annual KHA Convention in Lexington, including Our Lady of Peace. The KHA Quality Awards honor hospital leadership and innovation in quality, safety and commitment to patient care.

Our Lady of Peace received a Quality Award for its Long-Acting Injection (LAI) Clinic. The LAI Clinic is the first pharmacist-operated long acting injection clinic at a behavioral healthcare center in the United States. The LAI Clinic helps provide easy access for patients to receive their long-acting injection on an outpatient basis with flexible scheduling and little wait time.

“We are honored to once again receive an award from the Kentucky Hospital Association, which recognizes our commitment to quality patient care and patient safety,” said Jennifer Nolan, president, Our Lady of Peace. “Our patients benefit daily from the Long-Acting Injection Clinic at Our Lady of Peace. We are thrilled to have our hospital and staff recognized for these efforts.”

This is the fourth time Our Lady of Peace has received this award. The hospital also received the KHA Quality Award in 2012, 2014 and 2017.

Our Lady of Peace is a private, nonprofit hospital that offers the most comprehensive array of behavioral health and substance use treatment services in the state. This includes specialized programs and services along the full continuum of care, including inpatient, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programming for children, adolescents and adults.

Pediatric Emergency Medicine Chief Named to Leadership Initiative


Becomes 20th from U of L selected for Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program

LOUISVILLE Michelle D. Stevenson, MD, MS, has been selected to the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program. The chief of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Louisville, Stevenson is the 20th faculty member chosen for the program from U of L and will join the 2018–2019 ELAM class.

ELAM is a yearlong fellowship for women faculty in schools of medicine, dentistry and public health. It provides leadership training with extensive coaching, networking and mentoring opportunities aimed at expanding the national pool of qualified women candidates for executive positions in the academic health sciences. Currently, more than 1,000 ELAM alumnae hold leadership positions at 257 academic health organizations in the United States and Canada.

Stevenson is board-certified in pediatric emergency medicine and in general pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She practices with U of L Physicians – Pediatric Emergency Medicine and is on the medical staff of Norton Children’s Hospital. She came to U of L in 2008 as research director and assistant professor in pediatric emergency medicine. Previously, she held academic appointments at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and at the University of Cincinnati and was on staff of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron.

Stevenson has earned competitive research funding virtually continuously since 2002. Currently, she has grant awards totaling nearly $1 million through 2023 and conducts health outcomes research through the executive committee of the Child and Adolescent Health Research Design and Support unit of the Department of Pediatrics. She currently serves as associate editor of Academic Emergency Medicine and is an editorial board member for American Academy of Pediatrics Grand Rounds. She is lead or co-author of almost 50 peer-reviewed articles and four book chapters and has presented or co-presented 75 oral or poster presentations at medical meetings throughout her career.

Stevenson earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Indiana University and her MD degree from the University of Kentucky. She completed a residency in pediatrics at U of L followed by a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She then augmented her education with a master’s degree in epidemiology from the University of Cincinnati.

LEXINGTON Saint Joseph Hospital, part of KentuckyOne Health, has been accredited for cardiac catheterization and percutaneous coronary intervention by the Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE), an organization dedicated to ensuring adherence to the highest quality standards for cardiovascular and endovascular care. ACE accreditation is a professional review of an organization’s structure, internal processes, patient safety practices, and clinical outcomes to determine if it meets the standards established by experts in cardiac and endovascular care.

Vibra Healthcare Announces Agreement to Purchase Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital

MECHANICSBURG, PA./LOUISVILLE Vibra Healthcare, LLC (“Vibra”) has reached an agreement to purchase full ownership of Southern Indiana Rehab Hospital (SIRH). For many years, KentuckyOne Health has managed and operated SIRH, in partnership with Clark Memorial Hospital and Baptist Health Floyd. The transition to Vibra Healthcare is set to close on June 18, 2018.
