About Surgery on Sunday
Surgery on Sunday was founded in 2005 by plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Moore, II. Moore was dedicated to a population of people so often overlooked in the healthcare industry and made it his mission to see the working poor receive outpatient surgeries they would not otherwise receive due to their inability to pay. Relying entirely on volunteers, Surgery on Sunday performs outpatient surgeries the third Sunday of each month at the Lexington Surgery Center utilizing volunteer physicians, anesthesiologists, nurses, social workers, and administrative personnel who have donated over 92,000 hours of volunteer service. To date, nearly 5,700 patients have been served.
