Andrei Cocieru Joins CHI Saint Joseph

LEXINGTON Andrei Cocieru, MD, has joined CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group – Surgery in Lexington bringing extensive general surgery and surgical oncology expertise. Cocieru specializes in hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery, addressing complex conditions affecting the liver, pancreas, and bile duct. Originally from Moldova, Cocieru discovered his passion for healthcare early in life.

“My mom was a family physician and served as an example to me,” says Cocieru.

Cocieru specializes in the surgical management of liver, pancreas, and bile duct diseases, offering both open and minimally invasive, laparoscopic procedures.

Cocieru earned his medical degree in Chisinau, Moldova. After moving to the United States, he completed his surgical residency at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut and pursued a research fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. He then completed advanced training at Duke University Medical Center to further hone his hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery skills. Cocieru is board-certified in both HPB surgery and general surgery.

Officers Announced for Lexington Clinic’s 2025 Board of Directors

LEXINGTON Lexington Clinic’s Board of Directors elected officers for 2025. They are President Tharun Karthikeyan, MD; Vice-President Kimberly Hudson, MD; Secretary Robby K. Hutchinson, MD; and Treasurer Jordan Prendergast, DO.

OB-GYN Joins Women First

OB-GYN practice in September 2023. Shannon completed her undergradu – ate degree at the University of Kentucky in Lexington and received her medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where she received the Schwartz Medical Humanities Award. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Cincinnati in 2017.

Before joining Women First, Shannon performed OB-GYN work including gynecologic surgeries, labor and delivery, emergency consultations, and annual wellness exams. Having worked with patients of all ages, she is particularly passionate about providing care for adolescent and post-menopausal women. She also greatly values the opportunity she has in her role to empower women through comprehensive health and reproductive education.
